Chomp is a series of mobile games that uses NTU's Facial movement recognition AI as a Major game mechanic.
It detects the opening the closing of the mouth and use it to control the game elements. The first of the series is called Popcorn Chomp and it is out on the google playstore and apple app store.
I was tasked with the basic UI/UX of popcorn chomp and after it was launched, gather info and design improved versions that uses the same mechanic. I found out from popcorn chomp, the users were not comfortable with seeing their own face opening and closing the mouth in the face cam. Hence for new variations of the series I suggested replacing the face cam with an avatar that changes depending on what the user is doing, this way the user still get the feedback on whether the camera is connected or if their face is detected without looking silly.
